Our bought and paid for politicians will never let it see daylight here. Their money men won't stand for anything that will improve the environment, nor cut into their profits.

Yeah, they couldn't say the sea was more expensive and raise our rates. To bad though. Looks like an innovative idea. I'll be interseted to see how it works out.

There is currently an underwater generating system in the East River, the tidal river that separates Manhatten from Long Island. It now looks line a second generator complex is being in the East River: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=...

The current in the East River is fast, but no where near as fast as the 8 knots of Strangford Lough. I hope the thing is sturdy!!!

Chevron is setting up a test site on west coast.

Excellent technology, more consistent than wind.

Any method of energy production that is "clean" is to be applauded. However, this will not remove the need for major power generators. Nuclear fusion is the only realistic (and safe) avenue for the world to go down. Shame that Govt's are to corrupt to finance the required research......

This idea first surfaced in the 60's in science fiction stories. It's way overdue in reality.

It'll probably happen, but I reckon that fusion will be first....

Can't wait to see what the environmental wackos do. It'll endanger something. The project will be tied up for years over some possibly endangered species.
