At first glance, the blistering federal court ruling against TorrentSpy seemed like a victory for the MPAA, who claimed the BitTorrent search engine facilitated or induced copyright infringement. But the case was not decided on the merits. That means there is no direct U.S. legal precedent saying yea or nay to BitTorrent tracking sites.
