Since Netscape 9 will share an architecture with Firefox 2, it is very likely that most Firefox 2 extensions will work in Netscape 9 without modification. This is why Netscape 9 will allow you to install extensions that list Firefox 2 as a compatible version but do not explicitly list Netscape as well.

Netscape User's, Read Carefully, and Go Slow...

'Since Netscape 9 will share an architecture with Firefox 2, it is very likely that most Firefox 2 extensions will work in Netscape 9 without modification.'

Lots of Weasel Wording in this one??? IT is an Exact Science, it either Works or it Doesn't work Period???

When I read 'it is very likely that most Firefox 2 extensions will work in Netscape 9 without modification', what happens when it doesn't work, Netscape User's are left hanging with a Problem??? Sounds Like Jason Calacanis and CK Jason Jr. All Over Again???

Now Than, maybe the Netscape Anchors, Fabaine, Koraino etc. if the have any IT experience at all, they can do something useful BY Performing Quality Control Testing and Determine if the changes will work or NOT... Isn't this there Job instead of submitting Meaningless, One-sided, Misleading, and Bias Comments against Our Sitting President??

    Natescape User's deserve better???

    Sincerely,

No, you open your Addons manager and uninstall the extension.

      > maybe the Netscape Anchors, Fabaine, Koraino etc. if

You clearly don't even understand the discussion. Take your rants somewhere else.

Judging from previous teasers, it looks like the FAS is going to be built into Netscape 9.

If you can't wait until then, you can use your friends' recent activity page, which gives you the same output as the FAS:

I'm not familiar with the AIM sidebar you speak of. This one is pretty simple. It shows up on the left hand side of your browser and produces the exact same output as the link that I provided above.

There's a screenshot of the sidebar and its button here:

Mu also did a pretty good feature on it:

Yeah David, that will be built right into version 9, along with a few other extensions that integrate Netscape.com into the browser. You're right though, the FAS is not currently compatible with version 8, which you're right, does suck.

I'm not sure what the timeline on the new version being released is, but I'm fairly certain I read 1-2 months in one of the updates.

I am not a fan of Netscape 8 either. Only used it for a week or so prior to deleting it. I do hope that the new Netscape 9.0 is better.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this browser. Like many people, I was disappointed with Netscape 8, and I switched to Firefox shortly after the release of 8. I thought 8.1 was better, but it still has some problems. Up until Netscape 8, Netscape was always my main browser; I think it was unwise for AOL to fire the old Netscape developers and outsource to Mercurial. Hopefully, this browser will return to the glory days since it's being developed in house. I've enjoyed the new netscape.com very much (though it still can be improved of course) and I want to see the browser continue the new momentum of the Netscape brand.

OK. I admit I'm no computer whiz, but ever since I uninstalled 7.2 and downloaded 8.1 I have been unable to get to my @netscape.net Email! It's been about 2 months! And when I called Netscape tech support, ($19.95/hr!!) they admitted they were having problems and it might be another couple months before it's fixed.

Can someone please let me know if/when I'll ever be able to see my Email again?

Pupi - I answered this question for you in the last thread you asked it in

The forum linked on that post is also the best place to get your technical questions answered, and it's free to use.

Why bother with all of this?

Join the Borg and use Internet Explorer v7. You'll be much happier.

          Resistance is futile.

You can't on a mac. Work bought me a mac laptop and my personal PC laptop died. Looks like I am "stuck" on a mac, even it if wasn't by choice. No IE for me. ...besides they have a way of making web designers want to kill themselves with their broken CSS and JS implementations.

Is it true they started working on Netscape 9 from V. 7.2 so is it mean all services or facility's which available in 7.2 like mail integration are also available in 9 ?

No, it is not true. Netscape 9 is sourced from Firefox 2. It is undecided whether the 7.x Netscape line will receive any more updates.

                /cry

Netscape 9, being based off of Firefox 2, could easily come over to the *nix platform, right?
