A special type of matter called a Bose-Einstein condensate could be used to make tiny atomic transistors, according to research carried out by physicists in the US. The result is a first step in making atom "circuits" - the atomic equivalent of electronic ones.

      It would be interesting if nano_fibers (carbon tubular filaments geometrically similar to hexagonal chicken wire rolled into a tube...see Kroto/Smalley, et al ?) could be used to provide a stabilizing superstructure, independent of the atomic quantum state or the atoms constituting the functional current. The carbon fibers seem more regular than candidate currents. Microtubules, the working horses of cellular dynamic action are 25 nano_meters(nm) across, build from 5 nm diameter sphericals occurring in dimers, or tubulin molecule pairs, forming of the order 13 twisted strands with a 15nm diameter bore lengthwise. I have always thought some viruses disassemble and move in parts into the inner cell thru these 15nm inner diameter microtubules: roughly one thousand atom_diameters form its inner diameter. Machines can be built with 100 atom components, if ten atoms could form transistors plus containments. We could have machines study interriors of active cells. One future.
