July 1, 2006, 4:34 p.m.Time will tell!
Change is heard for some.
I still vote for the "old Netscape" as a browser.
May have to go to the "real Mozilla" - Firefox!

July 1, 2006, 4:36 p.m.this is very confusing, i cant "quickly" view the news. i have to jump form window to window, and then it asks me if i want to go to that site. Not everyone has HIGH speed, alot of folks still have dial up, and the window jumping is very time consuming and annoying.. WHY such a drastic change.

July 1, 2006, 4:38 p.m.Yes, Robert! A lot of us like the change. The best part of this negative response is that those who are opposed to the change are using the very forum they despise to get their message out. Isn't that interesting?

July 1, 2006, 4:39 p.m.I can tell you why this petition is completly stupid.
The old netscape was dying.
Since it was dying, they probably thought it prudent to save some semblance of it and not kill the brand entirely.
They're not going to re-hire all the employees they've fired.
This is stupid.

July 1, 2006, 4:52 p.m.I love the new Netscape. I liked the old site, but it's been around for years, and I was ready for a change. I hope people will give the new site a chance.

July 1, 2006, 4:56 p.m.Get over it. Half of you who don't like this great new step forward don't know the difference between a Netscape browser and the netscape.com web site. They are TWO DIFFERENT things. You can use your Netscape browser with a different home page, and you can also view netscape.com with Firefox or IE. Duh!
Also, how many times have these guys pointed out you can still use the old site if you want old stuff, and can't try something new. If you want straight news, there are lots of good online newspapers. Have any of you ever heard of the New York Times? Everything but Op/Ed is free. And you can make it your home page if you want, whether you're using a Netscape browser, Firefox or Microsoft.
As pointed out above, netscape.com was becoming irrelevant, so that might tell you people something about how hip you are (no offense, but you people are whining like babies. You don't pay for this! This site is a great step forward. Thanks to Jason and team for making netscape.com relevant again.

July 1, 2006, 4:57 p.m.I am a person that always enjoys change; however I don't like the change or look of the new Netscape. I like to read things and move on. If I need to hunt for things I will go on a Safari! I hope they bring back something that resembles the old look.

July 1, 2006, 5:03 p.m.I do not like navigating around for the news. the old format was much better. I dont like the fact that its what people think is newsworthy that is easy get to all other news you have to search for it.

July 1, 2006, 5:07 p.m.I no longer have access to a format that I liked in Netscape so I quess I will find one somewhere else. The previous format was unique and very user friendly. Not sure why the change for now it reads like a lot of other sites that I had chosen to stay away from. I say bring it back and give us a choice. I found the previous format very interesting and easy to search thru. I really enjoyed reading thru it before going to work. Signed...Soooo SAD NOW!!!

July 1, 2006, 5:08 p.m.QUESTION: Do you all realize that Netscape (the web site) and Netscape (the browser) are two completely separate things?
You can change your home page from Netscape (the web site) regardless of what browser you use (Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Firefox).
I, for one, like the new look of the Netscape web site, but if you don't, then change your home page to something else.

July 1, 2006, 5:24 p.m.The problem is a bunch of people hi-jacked the Netscape homepage and turned it into something completely different. It's as if you went out to your driveway and found someone had swapped your pickup truck that you use for work with a pot of oatmeal. It might be great oatmeal but no matter how hard you try, it won't do the job of a truck. I think the "Get over it" crowd are the most irratating because they clearly do not want to admit they're part of the problem (And they've got your truck).
